Free Family Fun: The Halloween Parade of Artists

Ignite your family’s Halloween spirit with the Halloween Parade of Artists. This third annual event is free and brings together the city’s creative community for a magical nighttime parade the evening of October 21.

Website thecityofchicago.org, says “this family-friendly spectacle will begin as dusk arrives and will include live music,  unique floats, fanciful puppets and more. The parade will be led by 13 Creative Spirit Fellows, individuals whose work has animated our city in a powerful way.”

The Halloween Parade of Artists is led by the Chicago Cultural Mile Association. The association describes the event as “revelers…enveloped in an atmosphere where thousands of performers…reach into their imaginations to activate Halloween as the ‘artist’s holiday’ along one of the most prestigious cultural avenues in the world.”

The event runs from 6-8pm on Columbus Drive from Balbo Street to Monroe Street. Masks are not allowed, but face paint and wigs are. Police and other authorities will monitor the parade. Guests are asked not to bring large umbrellas, lawn chairs, or large bags along the parade route.
