Here is a classic recipe for ginger cookies. Delicious any time of the year, these treats are a particular favorite for the upcoming holiday season.

Not only are these cookies irresistible to eat, but they will also fill your home with the mouthwatering aromas of warm ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices. But beware, even a big batch of these ginger cookies won’t last long. Yum!

Cream Together:

¼ Cup Sugar

¼ Cup Brown Sugar

½ Cup Shortening

Add and Mix:

½ Egg (or 2 Tablespoons)

1 Tablespoon Molasses

Mix Together and Add:

¼ Teaspoon Ginger

½ Teaspoon Cinnamon

¼ Teaspoon Cloves

¼ Teaspoon Nutmeg

1/8 Teaspoon Salt

¾ Teaspoon Baking Soda

Add:

1 Cup Flour

  1. Preheat Oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Mix well and make into balls the size of walnuts.
  3. Roll in white sugar.
  4. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 5 to 10 minutes.
  5. Yield: two dozen cookies.
