Meet Michelle Chavez

A spotlight on one of the professional team members who works for you at Nash Disability Law

In her work as a Case Manager for the Hearings Department at Nash Disability Law, Michelle Chavez witnesses firsthand how helping clients earn the disability benefits they deserve can be life-changing and lifesaving for them. “I like building relationships with clients. I know that helping reduce some of their stress even with small things like answering questions clearly or keeping them informed can have a big impact,” she reflects.

With more than 11 years of working on behalf of Nash clients, Michelle knows the ropes. “I submit all representation and Manner of Appearance* forms to the Social Security Administration as well as handle hearing calls.  I also consider myself a floater since I am always willing to help where I am needed. And I am often called on to translate for our Spanish callers.”

Her empathy and compassion for people are evident every day at work and come naturally to her. “I was born a Chicagoan, so when I’m not at work it is easy to spend time with my family or my friends. I also have a four-year-old German Shephard-Malinois mix who loves to keep me busy,” she says with a big smile.

In the few moments of her life not occupied by advocating for Nash clients, hanging out with her family and friends, playing with her dog, or rooting for the White Sox (she’s a big fan), you’ll probably find Michelle curled up reading a fantasy novel. “I like getting pulled into different worlds and stories. I have always enjoyed the creativity and character development that come with the genre. Currently I am reading A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR), a popular fantasy romance series by Sarah J. Maas which follows the huntress Feyre Archeron as she makes her way through a magical world.”
